It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jean-Michel, the Creative Director, Founder and Visionaire for By Jean Michel luxury silk fashions since 2016.

Jean-Michel was an extraordinarily creative individual. He had a swift eye to capture the hidden beauty found within nature with his camera in hand. He caught sight of the unique colours and shapes found in nature around the world. The photographs he took were through his own perspectives of nature. He found the need to share this hidden beauty by transforming his captured images into fashion.
Jean-Michel looked beyond the surface and found a vast number of patterns and stories found across the sand dunes of North Africa, the mountainous terrains of North America, the rainforests of the Pacific islands and even the urban jungles of Europe. He took his passion for photography and captured the intricate details of these global landscapes. With his camera, Jean-Michel captured the daunting reflections of water, sandstones basking under the Saharan sun and even the swirls and curves of blossoming florals.
These wonders of the world were then reinvented by Jean-Michel as he proceeded to digitally transform his photography into wearable art. The entire By Jean Michel collection you see was designed by Jean-Michel himself, from the photographs to the digital transformation. Our silk fashions are a collection of abstract shapes and colours which offer a deep dimension into Jean-Michel’s perspectives of the world.
Every piece on our website was drawn up from Jean-Michel’s passion for unconventional art, his wandering soul for the lands beyond and his endless imagination. Jean-Michel travelled across the globe from his starting point in France and left his legacy not only on his former work in oil and gas but also in the fashion world. His legacy will remain for years to come as he has left a multitude of unique patterns and designs waiting to be printed on silk.
We have not only lost a friend but also an intelligent man with an extraordinarily creative mind. Jean-Michel will forever be remembered as we continue to expand By Jean Michel. The By Jean Michel brand will live on with Jean-Michel’s vision of “A reflection of nature’s art on a scarf “ as a priority in future collections.
