Intertwine Your Senses Amidst the Flavours and Sceneries of Colombia
One of our favourite countries to visit in South America is Colombia. It is one of the most diverse travel destinations you can go to embark on a unique cultural adventure. In addition to this, there are a lot of amazing sights to see and do. In Colombia, you can visit the Amazon rainforest or trek through the Andes Mountains!
For those who aren’t too enthusiastic about longer trekking trips, we have a more relaxed itinerary for you. The following guide will give you what you need to get the most unique experiences from your time in Colombia. We’ll include some of our favourite places which also include some of the best coffee you can find!
When in Colombia, you cannot miss a visit to these whimsical palm trees. They are the tallest trees in the world, growing up to 200 feet hovers over the rolling green hills. The sight almost replicates the imagery from one of Dr. Suess's poetry books. The area looks even more enchanting when the misty clouds loom over the trees, causing an entrancing mirage of heaven on earth.

This small neighbourhood in the capital is nowhere from being quaint. Its eccentric characteristics combined with the colourful paints of old and modern architecture make the area quite charming. Many of the homes in the area were built in the styles of the colonial and republican eras, which have been identified as historical and cultural assets of the country. Take a bike ride around the neighbourhood and visit the museums and local restaurants.

Colombia is the world’s third-largest producer of coffee, growing Arabica beans across the country. The flavorful coffee beans are often used and drank in local cafes, such as the Jesus Martin café. However, in the Quindio region, you can visit the manufacturing plant to see the entire process of how these coffee beans are produced and brewed. Near Cartagena is a volcano where you can enter to immerse your body in the mud. The mud is thick enough to let you float pretty easily. For less than $2, you can get yourself a mud massage, which is the best natural spa trip you can get your hands on for very cheap. You can cleanse your skin with mud rich in more than 55 beneficial minerals.

For a short period of the year, the river explodes with a luscious collection of colours. The area is suited for plant life to blossom on the river floor. These plants called Macrenia Clavigera turn the river a bright red colour. Other plant life, such as green moss, peers through, adding additional life of colour to the yellow sands below and the blue shades of water. The view is amazing and is the perfect setting for those nature photographers.
