Capturing Paris’s Identity of Love, Passion & Diversity Through Unique Reflections & Perspectives

This month, we want to introduce you to Jean-Michel’s Paris collection.

Paris, France had formed a special place in Jean-Michel’s heart. He travelled in and out of this gorgeous city for the majority of his life. Even at the end of his journey in this world, his ashes were finally laid to rest in Paris on August 25, 2021.

Jean-Michel had always been in love with the city’s dynamic characteristics and had been captivated by its sense of romance and passion. As passion has it, Jean-Michel often delved into his passion for photography across the vibrant city. He ventured far and wide across Paris to capture the city’s existential forms of diverse art and culture through his unique perspectives.

The main objective was to uniquely capture Paris’s identity of love, passion and diversity. He finally gazed upon the reflections set across the glistening glass buildings and the luminescent ripples of water. These reflections were a favourite focus of Jean-Michel when he took his photographs. From the discoveries of these reflections, Jean-Michel journeyed to capture the right moment in time to truly capture Paris’s identity in its distinct and abstract form.

Every piece in this collection was selected for Jean-Michel’s love for colours and lines made from reflections

The creation of ‘Louvre Lights’ took days for Jean-Michel to capture. As with many reflections, light plays an important factor and Jean-Michel knew this. Within 24 hours, he made 6 separate visits to the infamous glass pyramid to photograph the best moment in which the right light intensity was hitting the right angles.

After the 6th photoshoot attempt, Jean-Michel captured the best photograph which best reflects Paris’s warm ambience of city life and modern art. The light shone through the glass prisms of the building, hitting all the right angles and giving off all the warmer tones.

At first glance, the reflection doesn’t immediately scream the Louvre architecture, or at all. However, Jean-Michel made sure that the entire city could be captivated in one stunning vase of abstract art created from the city’s well-known landmarks. Similar processes were found on other pieces including Boulogne, Pink Building, Whirlpool and others.

The light shone through the glass prisms of the building, hitting all the right angles and giving off all the warmer tones.

‘Water Colours’ is an example of how the water reflection designs were created. Jean-Michel walked around the Stravinsky Fountain located in Igor Stravinsky Square. Erected in the fountain were works produced by the French sculptor, Niki de Saint Phalle. Her sculptures are known to be very quirky, abstract and colourful, which is something similarly found in Jean-Michel’s designs.

The reflection in the water of these sculptures made for the perfect photo opportunity. Jean-Michel utilized light and colours to capture a characteristic of the city through his unique perspective. Through the popular fountain and famous sculptures, Jean-Michel was able to transform his surroundings into a soft expression of the city’s dynamic and vibrant culture.
